As you’re reading this, I’m out of town. W-A-A-Y-Y-Y out of town. In Alaska, as a matter of fact.
My DH and I are in Sitka, Alaska enjoying the nice ‘cool’ weather. The highs for this week are supposed to be in the low 60’s with the lows at night in the 40’s. Brrrr. BIG change from what Oklahoma is experiencing! Had to dig out the cold weather gear; not that 60 is all that ‘cold’, but after the oven we’ve been living in, it’s bound to feel extra cool. Plus the town is next to the ocean, which will make it feel cooler.
Alaska is one of our favorite destination places and we try to come about every other year. On our first trip we went on a small cruise into both Fiord’s of Glacier Bay, got to walk on a glacier plus in a temperate rain forest and the next day saw a pod of Humpback whales feeding out in the Icy Straights, Man, that was so awesome!
Since then, we’ve been to Juneau, Anchorage, Skagway and Ketchikan. Each is a new experience, although all are laced with excursions out to see the marine wildlife and oft times to see a glacier. The state is so large, I don’t think you could ever see it all. Haven’t been much further north than Anchorage, though so maybe we need to consider Fairbanks next time.
Okay. I’ve told you about our favorite vacation spot {and where I’m playing this week}, so where do you like to go? Or do you? Sometimes staying close to home or going to visit relatives is more fun and enjoyable than traveling half-way across the country. Let me know. I’ll be home in time for the Fourth.
