Stars and Stripes Forever

This weekend as we celebrate our independence from tyranny and injustice, I hope you will join me in a prayer for our military men and women who fight for freedom and justice around the world.

May the Lord bless our men and women in uniform. Hold them in the palm of your hand. Let them successfully complete their mission, and bring them home safely to their families. And for those who sacrifice life or limb, Lord please comfort their loved ones, bless their sacrifice, and have mercy on their souls.

  1. What a beautiful prayer, Lynn. I’ll add my ‘Amen!’

A lot has been sacrificed so that we can enjoy the freedoms that we have. May we never take those freedoms for granted.

  2. Those who have served and are currently serving in our armed forces around the world are America’s heroes. They are the Honorable. It is because of them that we are free, today. Let us celebrate them and America’s freedom. Every day.

And then there are those who refuse to serve or are too afraid to serve.

    Those individuals deserve nothing.

  3. Thanks Meg, Marilyn and Linda for joining me today to remember our men and women in the military for are true heroes. They make it possible for the rest of us to rest easy at night, have our little backyard Bar-B-Ques, and most importantly, live in freedom.

  4. Add my thanks and prayers for the soldiers and the selfless sacrifices of their families.

Freedom isn’t free and sometimes I take that for granted. If not for the brave men and women serving in the military I might not be able to tuck my own kids safely into their beds tonight, a comfort thy’re missing so I can have mine. My thoughts and support are with those who serve. May the day come when we have no need to protect ourselves from human nature.

  5. Lynn,

I’d add a couple of lines to your prayer: May all our military commanders display wisdom and discernment in command of their troops. May all our political leaders show restraint and foresight when choosing to deploy those troops.

It’s a great thing to remember the military on our national day of remembrance. spw
