There’s a lot happening this week…Daylight Savings Time, St Patrick’s Day, warmer weather (preceded by some much needed rain). But the thing that’s on my mind the most is the 10th Wedding Anniversary for my dad and his wife.
When we think of ‘young love,’ we think of teenagers, people in their 20’s or 30’s. What about your 80’s or 90’s? Yep. These two people were in their 80’s when they said their vows and tied the knot on March 16th.
At that age, you really appreciate life, so every month, on the 16th, dad would do something special for Salena to celebrate their love. (Hey, they were in their 80’s. Who knew how much longer they’d live?) This went on for a few years. As with all things, he gradually fell out of the habit…a doctor’s appointment, one was ill, etc. You know, life interferes. That didn’t lessen their love for each other, though.
It just goes to prove that you don’t have to be young, just young at heart, to find a lasting love. And isn’t that what we all want, both for ourselves and the characters in our books?
So here’s an early HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to B.G. and Salena Perry!! I love you!
